On October 8 at 7 pm, join Cold Hollow to Canada for an evening of story and conversation with Peter Forbes, managing director of First Light Learning Journey, a program of New Learning Journey, Inc. Through images and story, Peter will describe the largest effort that’s ever been undertaken in the northeast to rebuild relationships between indigenous people and the conservation movement to expand Native stewardship of land. Started 4 years ago in Maine, First Light is a highly unusual collaboration between the 4 Wabanaki Tribes and dozens of land trusts which have granted access agreements over 62,000 acres and intend to accomplish much more together. This is a story of repairing and returning at the speed of trust.
